Teaching Practice Phase 2: Day 33
The day commenced with a special assembly associated with the inception of School Olympics as envisioned by the Government of Kerala. This is to be held simultaneously with the 2024 Paris Olympics. The School Olympics' torch light was handed over to Jose sir, HM of GGHSS, birthday Manacaud by four students who excel in various sports items, including Kaveri, one of my students from 8F class. The physical education trainer Sunil Kumar sir gave the message pertraining to Olympics. A detailed divulgence of the history of Olympics was made by one of the students.
After the morning assembly I went to 8F class to take a regular period for them. The class strength was too low as it was Saturday. Nevertheless I completed the lesson 'The Little Round Red House' as it is a simple children's story.I then explained the usage of 'too...to' in sentences and ask the learners to construct sentences of their own using 'too...to'. With necessary scaffolding the learners could do the activity. I also elicited the different themes of the story 'The Little Rund Red House' from the students. Still there were many people who could not distinguish between plot and theme. I explained the difference and discussed about the themes of curiosity and determination; and also the symbolism of apple in the story- it being a symbol of exploration, discovery and hidden surprises. Today there was class only in the forenoon session owing to the LDC examination in the afternoon. I left the school at 12: 30 pm after having lunch to attend the PSC exam at SMV school.
