Teachers' Day Celebration

"The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind." - Kahlil Gibran

Every year, India celebrates Teachers' Day on 5th September to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the country’s first Vice President and former President, scholar, philosopher, and Bharat Ratna awardee, who was born on this day in 1888.
In the year 2023, Teacher's Day was  celebrated with much enthusiasm and joy all around the nation. This special day has always been a significant occasion to honour and appreciate the incredible contributions of teachers in shaping and molding young minds.

On this particular day, students and school staffs came together to express their deepest gratitude for the tireless efforts and dedication of their teachers.

The theme for Teacher's Day 2023 is "Celebrating the Unsung Heroes." It aims to shed light on the immense role that teachers play in society and how their impact extends far beyond the classroom. The event emphasised the importance of recognizing the dedication of teachers in shaping the future of our nation.

Owing to the final viva voce and online examination of B.Ed final year students, Government College of Teacher Education could not observe Teachers' day on September 5th, so the college observed it today. Mr. Jose D. Sujeev, a former student of the college who won the prestigious National Award for Best Teacher was honoured in the event. We also paid respect to Jacob Mathews Sir and Suresh Sir, the former professors of the college known for their pedagogic fervour and practice and who are loved and  reverred  by their students. In the function, Dr. Isaac Paul, Department of Commerce, who was adjudged as the best research supervisor by Association of International Researchers of Indian Origin (AIRIO);  and other teachers were also honoured. Basil ( second semester B.Ed ), whose timely intervention  averted a huge mishap when a fire broke out in the college's computer lab, was also honoured.

The Teachers' Day celebration was a heartwarming and successful event that demonstrated our deep appreciation for the dedicated educators who shape our future. It fostered a sense of  gratitude among students and staff, highlighting the invaluable role teachers play in our lives.
