Onam 2023 : Kalika
Onam is the most revered and celebrated festival of Kerala. It is symbolic of King Mahabali’s annual home-coming. Through a burst of vibrant colours, traditional melodies, and cultural fervour, GCTE Thycaud embraced the spirit of Onam. The campus transformed to revel in the cultural extravaganza as students and faculty united for a day of festivities that celebrated the essence of Kerala’s most beloved festival.
The celebrations were held for two days in our college, it being formally inaugurated by the principal Dr.AV Sujith.The cultural programmes begun with a song by Dr.Omanasheelan, faculty from the department of English. Various programmes like group dance, group song and different onam games were held.The second day of the celebration followed suit.One of the highlights of the celebration was the Thiruvathira dance, a graceful and enchanting traditional dance form performed by two groups of talented students. The dancers moved in perfect synchrony, their every movement reflecting the elegance and beauty of Kerala’s cultural heritage.The same was the case with "Thumbipaatu". The audience was spellbound by the intricate footwork and graceful hand gestures that told stories of love and devotion.
Sitting together with our friends and teachers, a fresh banana leaf spread before us, symbolizing purity and prosperity was a walm experience. The vibrant green canvas served as the stage for a symphony of colours and flavours, each dish carefully arranged to delight both the eyes and the palate.The Onam celebration at the college was more than just an event; it was a tapestry of traditions that united students, faculty, and staff in celebrating Kerala's rich cultural heritage. As the programme drew to a close, the campus was left echoing with laughter, camaraderie, and the resonance of Kerala's vibrant festivities.
