Valentine's Day Debate by Chilla

Murders and assaults in the name of rejected love have often shocked many people. However, not much discussions on their reasons have been taken up. On February 14, Valentines' Day, an open debate on the topic Killings in the Name of Love was organised by the NGO Chilla at GCTE, Thycaud. The venue was UGC Hall. Honorable Food and Civil Supplies Minister GR Anil inaugurated the programme.Smt. Rani Naushad, Sri Kavalam Sreekumar, Smt. Rani Mohandas, Adv. Amritha Satheeshan, Smt. Geetha Naseer, Syama S Prabha and Dr.Satheesh Nair attended the programme. They shared their youthful and present amorous experiences and Sri Kavalam Sreekumar rendered beautiful verses pertaining to the trope. Unfortunately,  the programme neither served the intended purpose of sensitising the audience on the selected issue nor even tried to gather constructive insights from their part.On the whole, the programme provided little participation from the part of student teachers of GCTE. No opinion was sought from our part. It was more or less like a private meeting arranged for the dignitaries and that was the disenchanting part. Their discussions were not properly communicated to the spectators who could not discern what was taking place on stage.
