International Women's Day 2023

Each year, March 8 is observed as International Women’s Day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women from all around the world. The day also focuses on a call to action for accelerating gender parity and setting agendas and goals in achieving these targets. Events, talks, and awareness campaigns are organised to achieve this goal.The theme for this year’s Women’s Day, according to the United Nations is “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality” and it aims to emphasise the importance of technology in bringing gender issues to light. Director General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay, in her message for this year’s International Women’s Day, said, “”This year, on International Women’s Day, I would like to applaud this new generation of young women – for their courage in speaking out, inspiring others and mobilizing their peers, for a more sustainable tomorrow.”

On March 8, 2023, the Women's Cell of GCTE organised International Women's Day celebration at General Hall 2 of the college. After the rendition of prayer song, Ms. Sheena Elizabeth Varghese, Assistant 
Professor, GCTE, delivered the welcome speech. Inaugural address was given by the Principal,  Dr.VK Santhosh Kumar sir. A session on Reproductive Health was handled by Dr KM Chandini Devi, Obstetrician and Gynecologist and former Deputy Director of Kerala Government Health Services.


A society with people having physically and functionally normal reproductive organs and normal emotional and behavioural interactions among them in all sex related aspects might be called reproductive health.The primary step towards reproductive health is counseling  and creating awareness among people about reproductive organs and associated changes, safe  sexual practices sexually transmitted diseases STDs etc.
The programmes like reproductive and child health care eater to providing medical facilities and care to problems like menstrual irregularities, pregnancy related aspects,  delivery,  MTP , birth control , infertility , post natal child and maternal management.
The STDs can be prevented by observing simple precautions like avoiding sexual intercourse with unknown/multiple parents use of condoms during coitus etc.
Infertile couples and assisted through various programmes one such being the test tube Baby programme.

Ms. Rehna Hussain MH, first M.Ed student recited a poem on the occasion related to the theme of women and their struggles.Reflections on the programme were voiced by the student teachers and it ended with vote of thanks by Ms. Revathy BR.
