Christmas was traditionally a Christian festival celebrating the birth of Jesus, but in the early 20th century, it also became a secular family holiday, observed by Christians and non-Christians alike.Popular customs of Christmas  include exchanging gifts, decorating Christmas trees, attending church, sharing meals with family and friends and, of course, waiting for Santa Claus to arrive. GCTE Thycaud too celebrated Christmas on 22nd December, 2022. Teaching Practice Phase 2: Day 28

I took the rest of the poem 'Marvellous Travel' in 8f class today during the second period. The learners could recall the content dealt with in the previous class.I took the last two stanzas  of the poem there and explained the unfamiliar words using ICT resources. I gave time for the learners to take down the meanings of these words in their note books. A discussion was initiated on the topic 'how to travel without money' and the learners came up with a wide range of ideas like hitchhiking, packing homely food, carrying items for cooking and cooking on the roadside,  travelling by electric vehicles at low cost, carrying tents and camping in allowed places, halting at friends' and relatives' houses and so on. School Induction: Day 3

On the third day of the school induction programme, 6th January 2023, we, the first semester teacher trainees from GCTE, Thycaud,  reached Govt Girls HSS, Peroorkada by 9:10am. Myself and Ms.Jessy were allocated a class on the poem "My Grandmother's House" by Kamala Das from Class VIII English Reader for the fourth hour. Therefore, we discussed and improvised the lesson plan for the topic which we had prepared beforehand. It was an ICT lesson plan. We engaged the fourth hour for the eight standard learners. I have given them a brief  introduction to the poem using two video clips on grandmothers' love for their grandchildren. The students helped me in connecting my laptop to the projector but the downloaded  videos could not be decoded by the system, therefore I had used the laptop itself to display the videos to the students turn-wise, in groups.  They were then asked to comment on the video clips and also asked whether they could relate to the same.
