"Relaxation and Meditation Through Yoga" under the guidance of Heartfulness
On November 9th & 10th, Department of Physical Education & IQAC, GCTE, Thycaud in association with Hyderabad-based organization Heartfulness had conducted sessions on "Meditation and Relaxation through Yoga" from 3:30-4:30 pm. Heartfulness is an organization that offers free classes in 120 countries and in Kerala, it is centred at Trivandrum. The inaugural event held on November 9th was hosted by Ms.Mahima. She started off the event with Sree Buddha's quote that goes thus: "Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best relationship." The programme officially begun with the rendition of prayer song by Ms.Maria George, followed by welcome speech by Ms.Devika P.S. Dr.VK Santhosh Kumar, esteemed principal and charioteer of GCTE rendered the presidential address. Sri Rahul, Assistant Professor in GCTE and IQAC coordinator, delivered the felicitation address. Then there ensued an introduction speech by Mr.Shibhu Saifudeen, Yoga and Meditation trainer from Heartfulness and Assistant Process Engineering working in KMML, Chavara.
Vishnu B, Certified Yoga Instructor, working as Yoga trainer and Heartfulness practitioner cum volunteer, was present for the function. He trained us in chair yoga and breathing exercises via the left & right noses together and separately. He also enjoined us in stretching exercises which can be done while sitting. Jayasree DK, Heartfulness Yoga Meditation trainer and one who retired from the IT field, instructed us in meditation, the evoking of kundalini energy to become one with the ultimate energy and in cleansing our minds of all negativities. Yoga, meditation and breathing exercises followed on the second day too. The official inauguration ended with vote of thanks by Sandhya A. Each session concluded with reflections on the same from the part of student teachers. Written feedbacks were also handed over to the organisers cum trainees.
