Free Dental Screening Camp

As a part of National Tooth Brushing Day 2022, GCTE Thycaud in collaboration with Noorul Islam College of Dental Sciences had organised a free dental screening camp on 7th November at UGC Hall of GCTE. The event, compered by Ms.Ashly L Paul,  began with a prayer song by Ms.Reshma Rajesh, followed by welcome speech by Ms.Bushra Ansary. Dr. VK Santhosh Kumar sir, Principal, GCTE rendered the presidential address and inaugural address. Felicitation addresses were delivered by Dr.Syam Kumar, HOD, Department of Public Health Dentistry and Dr.Joly S, Vice Principal, GCTE. The principal gave away the token of gratitude to Dr.Syam Kumar on behalf of GCTE.   A skit was played by the BDS students of Noorul Islam College on the importance of keeping one's teeth clean and healthy. It was about dental hygiene ,oral care and dental problems caused due to our bad habits.They executed the skit in a vibrant maner and  concluded  with the tips for having healthy teeth.Health talks by BDS students Akshay AR and Alwin S Clement were also conducted.They talked about the need for healthy food habits and balanced diet that in turn make our teeth and our whole body healthy. They also dealt with common tooth diseases affecting individuals and the ways by which the same can be prevented. Video presentations regarding the manners of brushing for children and adults were displayed along with messages related to tooth health from the part of doctors and BDS students from Noorul Islam College of Dental Sciences.The Free dental screening camp was held with the participation of GCTE students and the 
programme ended in a successful maner.

I engaged two periods for 8E class today. Since the lesson 'The Nightingale and the Rose' was completed, I gave the learners a few activities based on the same. A story board completion chart was displayed and the learners were randomly called to complete it. After the task, the teacher confirmed the answers and cleared doubts.  I also made the learners do a passage editing activity and error correction activity. During the last period, I conducted a test for them on the poem 'The Sower'. The examination was held for 15 marks and for thirty minutes duration. Since I could not take print outs of the question paper, I wrote down the questions on the board and asked the learners to write down the answers.  After collecting the answer sheets, I asked the pupils to complete a few activities,  including poster making activity given in their English Reader and submit the works by Monday.

The Jolly Hollies 2022

Christmas was traditionally a Christian festival celebrating the birth of Jesus, but in the early 20th century, it also became a secular family holiday, observed by Christians and non-Christians alike.Popular customs of Christmas  include exchanging gifts, decorating Christmas trees, attending church, sharing meals with family and friends and, of course, waiting for Santa Claus to arrive. GCTE Thycaud too celebrated Christmas on 22nd December, 2022. Teaching Practice: Phase 1 : Day 25

I engaged two periods for 9F today and completed the story 'The Last Leaf' for them. Then I gave necessary instructions to them so that they could complete the textual exercises on their own. I asked the pupils to come up with alternative titles for the lesson . I also dictated to them notes on the poem 'On Killing a Tree' which they took down in their notebooks.  For 8E class, I continued with the story 'A Day in the Country' using vocabulary and powerpoint slides as aid. I had to rush the lesson a bit since their portions were pending and revision classes were about to begin prior to the Christmas examination.  Preparations for the upcoming state-level vocational fests have already begun. My fellow teacher trainees took Physical Education classes during the second and third periods.
