Screening the Inauguration of Anti-Drug Campaign

As a part of the extensive anti-drug campaign organised by the State Government under the aegis of Honorable Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Excise Minister MB Rajesh with the co-ordinated efforts of different public departments, GCTE Thycaud followed suit with the other educational institutions in the state to extend its support to the venture. The college screened the live telecast of the inaugural programme on KITE Victers channel where the Chief Minister and Education Minister Shri V. Sivankutty addressed the masses sending their messages on the "No to Drugs" campaign. The inauguration originally scheduled for October 2 was postponed following the demise of veteran communist leader and ex-minister Shri Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. It has been learnt that the first phase of the campaign will last till November 1, Kerala Piravi Day. The CM and minister exhort students, political parties, religious and community organisations, traders and media houses to make the campaign a success. The students are encouraged to participate in various activities related to the campaign like debates, classroom discussions, poster making, enactment of skits and the like. The government warns us against falling into the trap of drug dealers and invites our solidarity for forming a wide human chain, reciting oath and symbolically burning intoxicants in wards where there are no schools. For promoting the project it requests the people to participate in the procession to be held on October 30 and 31. The screening of the inaugural ceremony was held in the technology lab of our college to the witness of the future school teachers so that they, by inculcating the behaviour of teetotalers and campaigners against drug use and abuse will be able to guide their pupils in the right direction.
