Remembering Mahatma

On October 7, 2022, "Remembering Mahatma" programme was conducted at the General Hall of GCTE, Thycaud as a part of Gandhi Jayanthi Celebration. The event commenced with the rendition of prayer song by Salini VS, followed by welcome speech by Abhijith BJ. The presidential address by respected principal Dr. VK Santhosh Kumar ensued wherein he talked at length about the life and message of Gandhiji and its revelance in the contemporary scenario in which his ideas are misinterpreted for selfish and political ends. Felicitation address was given by Assistant Professor of Hindi and Staff Secretary Dr. Jayakrishna K. She drew our attention to the DPEP system supported by Mahatma and the measures he took to back the cause of the villagers and harijans all across India. Reshma CM invited the attention of the audience through her speech on the relevance of Gandhian philosophy in the 21st century, particularly the importance of adhering to the values of truth and ahimsa or non-violence in the present  scenario marked by post-truth politics and journalism and where people have no qualms upon inflicting pain upon fellow beings fir fulfilling  selfish motives. The vote of thanks was rendered by Vismaya P. The event concluded with a quiz competition that focused on Gandhiji and the Indian National movement. The participation from the part of students exceeded all expectations. A total of twenty questions were provided and the quiz was held in the written form. Whereas a senior BEd student team comprising of two members bagged the first position in the quiz, the second and third positions were adorned by teams from junior BEd class (Semester 1). The quiz competition was monitored by Vishnu from 1st M.Ed.
