Teaching Practice Phase 2: Day 6
The day commenced with a special assembly related to Reading Day celebration. The assembly was marked by a prayer song followed by a brief dissemination of the history of reading and libraries in Kerala. PN Panicker's biography was read out and he was remembered and rendered tribute for his contributions. The reading day celebration at GGHSS Manacaud was inaugurated by the lighting of lamp by Jose sir and the deputy headmaster. This was followed by recitation of the poems entitled 'Pustakangal' (translated as Books) by the Malayalam writer NV Krishna Warrier and Daffodils by Wordsworth. A short skit was enacted with the character Najeeb from Benyamin's novel Goat Life as the centre. Reading day poem and pledge were recited. HM, Deputy headmaster and staff secretary gave the reading day message to the students. The drizzle in the course of the morning assembly lightened the atmosphere.
I headed to 8F class during the second period but the class tutor borrowed my period since I was the one who engaged her class hours in the previous day. I went on with my internship based works till afternoon. Associated with reading day and literature a quiz was held in one of the classrooms with interested students from different classes participating in the same. During the last two periods I got substitution in 7th grade classes. After line duty we left the school. Towards the end of the day,we learnt that the NTA-NET examination which was conducted the previous day got cancelled owing to some cyber attack and subsequent CBI report submitted to the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Indeed the news was spirit dampening because we were under the assumption that since the exam was comparatively easy we could crack the same. Now looking forward to the fresh exam date announcement ...
