Teaching Practice Phase 2: Day 1

I was really glad to cross the threshold of GGHSS, Manacaud for the second phase school internship. The atmosphere, teachers and students exuded an air of bonhomie.
As it was Wednesday,  we led the students to assemble in the ground for the weekly school assembly. One of the students divulged information on the need to resist Child Labour and it was insightful on this special day against child labour. During the second hour, I acquainted myself with 8F students, kicking off with their hobbies and slowly starting with the first lesson 'The Mysterious Picture'. Their responses to my questions gave an impression that most of them have already read the lesson. Though I used a mix of Malayalam and English in my first class, I reminded the learners that exposing themselves to the target language is of prime importance. I suggested slowly picking pace in English and switching to English as the medium of teaching-learning  and they welcomed the move. I also briefed them about the experimental study I will be conducting in their class in the coming days and they assured cooperation. Retiring from the class after the second period, I immersed myself in my internship based works. As the inception to the second phase I internship, today was great.
