Teaching Practice: Phase 1: Day 16

The day's assembly was vibrant with the spirit of Children's Day. I took 3 regular hours and 1 repeat period today. The 9F students seemed to be unpredictable when it comes to discipline.  I could manage them well during the 2nd period but things were not so smooth during the 6th period. Nevertheless I could take the intended portions. I took the same portion in 9H class during a substitution period. The learners were engaged in writing other subjects' notes during the period while the class was going on. Some were gazing at a school group photograph and passing comments. I seized the photograph and their notebooks. After the class, I asked the learners whether their actions were justifiable. They apologized and promised never to repeat the same.  So I returned their belongings.

8E class period went smoothly as usual. I made use of a picture chart to help the pupils acquaint themselves with the new words. The activity given to the learners was centred around the grammatical category of pronouns. It was only after general instructions and explanation with examples that the pupils were enjoined to do the task. They completed the activity better than expected. Though pronouns were a new topic for them, they were able to grasp the concept quickly.
