Reflections on School Induction Programme

On 13th January, 2023, a reflective session on the School  Induction Programme for first year BEd students was held in General Hall 2 in the afternoon session. Ms. Sibana  hosted the programme.  After delivering the welcome address, Ms. Sibana reflected on the visit to Govt Girls HS, Manacaud by perusing her blog post regarding the same.  She then invited the leaders of each student teacher group to share their experiences. Ms. Lekshmi shared her experience on the visit to Govt Girls HS, Manacaud. Mr. Ajmal Roshan added to the same , representing the Commerce Department. Ms. Keerthana Anil  familiarised the audience with the functioning of Poojappura Chinnamma Memorial school and also shared some moments of teachers' insolent behavior towards the students there which she least expected and which literally disenchanted her. Ms. Angitha Giri shared her thoughts about Cotton Hill Govt GHS and her experience with cooperative teaching and learning.   Ms. Arsha dismantled the preconceived notion of the audience regarding the nature of learners in Thycaud Govt Model Boys HSS by recalling her memorable moments there. Ms. Bhagya Murali disseminated her penchant for Karamana Govt Girls HS and the teachers there, through her speech. She asserted that she as well as her team members are willing to visit the school again for third semester teaching practice, if allowed to do so. I have shared our groups' experiences at Peroorkada Govt Girls HSS with the spectators, mostly bitter moments like the indifferent attitude from the part of school teachers and the poor administration there, with the result that Ms.Shyba, Assistant Professor and  the coordinator of the School Induction programme had declared the college's decision not to  send student teachers to Peroorkada GGHSS for induction in the future. Dr. VK Santhosh Kumar sir, the principal of GCTE reviewed our reflections and talked about the need for further developments that need to be effected in public sector schools both infrastructure-wise and academically, by drawing slices from his own interactions in different schools. The programme concluded with the rendition of  vote of  thanks by Ms. Devika PS.
