Inauguration of ICT Cell & One day Workshop on Digital Resources in Education.

With the rapid growth in science and technology that made its ramifications in the educational field too, it has become mandatory for us to construct ourselves as techno pedagogues so as to meet the needs and demands of the pupils who are digital natives. To make us, the potential teachers, adept and dexterous in using tech-based classrooms, GCTE Thycaud had opened an ICT cell on November 10, 2022. The event held in the General Hall, anchored by Ms.Kavya Dinesh began with Ms. Maria George's  invocation of the Almighty. Ms. Revathy BR rendered the welcome speech. The inaugural ceremony was headed by the principal,  Dr. VK Santhosh Kumar sir who pointed the positive as well as negative sides of technology. The inaugural speech by Santhosh sir in the wake of the lamp lighting was followed by felicitation address by Dr.Rajashree K, Staff Council Secretary, GCTE. The official inauguration came to a close with Ms. Jessy M's vote of thanks. The formal function was ensued by a one day workshop on Digital Resources in Education entailing hands-on-experience sessions handled by the resource persons cum teachers of GCTE, Dr. Jayakrishna ma'am and Dr. Praveena ma'am from 10:30am -3:30pm at the computer lab. The forenoon session from 10:30am - 1:00 pm was held under the leadership of Praveena ma'am who acquainted the student teachers with websites, ebooks, e-journals, e-theses & dissertations and blogs. The afternoon session that spanned from 1:30-3:30pm held under the aegis of Jayakrishna ma'am familiarised us with the usage of Docs, Google Classroom, Google Forms and other edu-related applications.

I engaged two periods for 8E class today. Since the lesson 'The Nightingale and the Rose' was completed, I gave the learners a few activities based on the same. A story board completion chart was displayed and the learners were randomly called to complete it. After the task, the teacher confirmed the answers and cleared doubts.  I also made the learners do a passage editing activity and error correction activity. During the last period, I conducted a test for them on the poem 'The Sower'. The examination was held for 15 marks and for thirty minutes duration. Since I could not take print outs of the question paper, I wrote down the questions on the board and asked the learners to write down the answers.  After collecting the answer sheets, I asked the pupils to complete a few activities,  including poster making activity given in their English Reader and submit the works by Monday.

The Jolly Hollies 2022

Christmas was traditionally a Christian festival celebrating the birth of Jesus, but in the early 20th century, it also became a secular family holiday, observed by Christians and non-Christians alike.Popular customs of Christmas  include exchanging gifts, decorating Christmas trees, attending church, sharing meals with family and friends and, of course, waiting for Santa Claus to arrive. GCTE Thycaud too celebrated Christmas on 22nd December, 2022. Teaching Practice: Phase 1 : Day 25

I engaged two periods for 9F today and completed the story 'The Last Leaf' for them. Then I gave necessary instructions to them so that they could complete the textual exercises on their own. I asked the pupils to come up with alternative titles for the lesson . I also dictated to them notes on the poem 'On Killing a Tree' which they took down in their notebooks.  For 8E class, I continued with the story 'A Day in the Country' using vocabulary and powerpoint slides as aid. I had to rush the lesson a bit since their portions were pending and revision classes were about to begin prior to the Christmas examination.  Preparations for the upcoming state-level vocational fests have already begun. My fellow teacher trainees took Physical Education classes during the second and third periods.
